Description
Assistant Professor of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Computer Science beginning August 2026. We are interested in applicants from all areas of computing, with a particular emphasis on applicants whose research and teaching interests are in cloud computing, computer security, software engineering, or embedded systems.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution no later than the first year of their appointment. We seek individuals who demonstrate a genuine interest in undergraduate teaching within the liberal arts setting, and who are committed to support and advocate for inclusion across a broad spectrum of campus life. Preferred qualifications include the ability to contribute to the breadth of the department’s curriculum through inclusive teaching, innovative course development, and expertise in emerging areas of computer science.
Please submit your electronic application (online link below), including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy and approaches, a statement of research experience and goals, and the current official email addresses for three professional references (at least one of whom can comment on your teaching effectiveness). Professional references will be contacted by Gettysburg College to submit letters of recommendation electronically. The cover letter must specifically address the candidate’s approach and commitment to teaching in a primarily undergraduate institution. Applications and letters of recommendation received by December 31, 2025 will be given full consideration.
