Description

Sewickley Academy is seeking to hire a Computer Science Teacher. This role is responsible for teaching students computer, computational systems, and programming knowledge and skills - including the theory, design, development, and application of software.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Collaborating with the Computer Science department on pedagogy and curriculum to ensure a meaningful scope and sequence across middle and high school grade levels. 

· Planning and facilitating instruction to students.

· Teaching four and one-half or five Computer Science courses including robotics and programming.

· Providing instruction and course/program management in the overall knowledge and application of software development, allowing students to discover computer science concepts and skills by creating personally relevant, tangible, and shareable projects.

· Exposing students to the scope of Computer Science studies, from abstract ideas (determining what problems can be solved with computers and the complexity of the algorithms that solve them) to the tangible (designing applications that perform well on handheld devices, that are easy to use, and that uphold security measures).

· Exposing students to Computer Science as a means of computationally analyzing and developing solutions to authentic problems.

· Advising a group of students and taking part in all the other day-to-day activities in the respective divisions of the school.



Requirements

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree required, and Master’s degree preferred.

· Minimum three (3) years of teaching experience.

· Strong background in Computer Science and be knowledgeable in Computer Science education.

· Passionate about fostering computer literacy and academic excellence.

· Possess a nurturing, adaptable approach to instructing.

· Innovative, collaborative, and able to teach a robust middle school and senior school Computer Science curriculum.

· Knowledge and understanding of careers in Computer Science.

· Preferred technical qualifications include: Java, Python, hardware and networking, mobile app development, cybersecurity and other relevant technologies.

· Be a lifetime learner and adapt quickly with this challenging field.
